Stella Salvemini

Candidate for Torrens

Hi, I'm Stella Salvemini

I'm honoured to be your Greens candidate for Torrens. I’m running because our community deserves bold leadership on climate, housing, and fairness. I want to bring the voices of working people, renters, and diverse communities into Parliament.

I’m proud to call the eastern suburbs home. Since moving out of my family home in 2021, I’ve lived locally and built strong connections to the Torrens community. Whether hiking at Morialta Conservation Park or walking along Felixstow Reserve, our local green spaces remind me why strong environmental protection and climate action matter.

I come from a working-class family and am the granddaughter of migrants who came to Australia seeking a better life. I’m also a proud Muslim woman and believe our parliament should reflect the diversity of the people it represents. I’m passionate about encouraging young people, especially those from Muslim and migrant communities, to engage in activism and politics.

For more than three years I’ve worked as a union organiser, standing alongside workers to fight for fair pay, secure jobs, and dignity at work. That experience has shaped my belief in grassroots organising and collective power.

As a renter who has had to move twice in the past year, I know how urgent the housing crisis is. I’m running because the major parties aren’t delivering the action our communities need. The Greens will fight for renters, real climate action, and an economy that puts people before corporate profit.
