Aged care is in crisis.

We all like to believe that we’ll be looked after when we get old. That we’ll all be able to access the care that we need at the time that we need it.

But after years of inquiries, royal commissions, and broken promises, Australia’s aged care system is only getting worse.

Under Labor’s harsh new aged care co-payments, the worse your health, the more you’ll pay for care.

Older Australians are being forced to pay up to $50 just for help with a shower, which means some people are no longer able to afford the care they need at home.

And right now, more than 200,000 older people are stuck waiting on access to aged care because the government has capped the number of home care places being provided each year, and is relying on private corporations to provide care.

In a wealthy country like ours, our parents and grandparents should be able to get the care they need when they need it.

We can end the shortage of care by reversing the care-for-profit model, and taking on the 1 in 3 big corporations in Australia who currently pay no tax.
